Student Computer: Recommended Hardware Minimum Configuration

Below are the recommended hardware minimum configurations for student owned computer hardware. 

Entry Level Computer

             Celeron 1.2+ GHz
     

  • Macintosh
             PowerMac G4 500 Mhz

  • Memory/Storage
  • 512 MB RAM

  • 40+ GB hard drive

  • Networking
  • modem (dial-up users)

  • NIC (10/100 BASE-T Ethernet)

  • 802.11b wireless network adapter for notebook computers

  • Removable Storage
  • 32x CD-ROM/CD-RW

  • Preferred Computer

  • Please note that due to the design of the Macintosh Operating System 10, only Internet access and web-based or POP email is available on campus (i.e. myisu.indstate.edu, hotmail.com, yahoo.com).

    Although systems below the recommended configuration may be utilized, application speed will be noticeably slower.
    Also, please check the URL (web address) of any online course or check with your instructor to ensure your system meets specific class requirements.
